The St Anton ski area offers incredible steep terrain for expert skiers and snowboarders. For intermediate skiers and snowboarders the runs down to St Christoph and Alpe Rauz are ideal whilst beginners have a small dedicated area in the centre of St Anton. For good intermediates and better the runs out to Warth at the Northern limits of the Arlberg ski area are memorable. Click the different ski ability categories below to get more information:
Beginner skiing
There is a kids and beginners ski area located on the northern edge of the resort that stretches between the Galzig and Nasserein lifts. Not only are the slopes close to the safety of the resort but the ski school and ski hire is located in this areas as well. Beginners will very much be confined to this area as the slopes quickly rise up out of St Anton.
Intermediate skiing
Intermediates have a great selection of terrain to tackle in the St Anton and St Christoph ski areas and beyond into the Arlberg ski region – Lech – Zürs is a particularly good area for intermediate skiers and snowboarders. For lower intermediates the runs from Galzig down into St Christoph are fantastic whilst the better intermediates should make the trip out to Lech – Zürs and beyond into Warth.
Advanced / expert skiing
Both the Kappl and Valluga regions of the St Anton ski area offer some serious and steep terrain with a number of ski routes in this section that are marked for easy access. For those looking for steep and off-piste then the Valluga looms with a descent into Zürs am Arlberg via the Valluga 2 top station. A certified local guide is required to access this extremely steep terrain. The Rendl side of the St Anton also offers some steep ski routes and tends to attract fewer crowds than other parts of the area.
Off-piste skiing
Off-piste and powder skiing in St Anton and the wider Arlberg
In the snowiest region of the Alps it is not surprising that St Anton and the wider Arlberg come with an enviable reputation for off-piste and powder skiing. The North-facing Rendl ski area above St Anton is one of the best-kept secrets in the Arlberg region – the tree skiing in the right conditions can be exceptional. And on powder days you will see the locals heading en masse straight through much of the St Anton ski area in the direction of the Albona above Stuben. Here lies a ridge that offers possibly the best off-piste experience in the Alps with several kilometres of access points to heavenly descents down to Stuben.
