Served by 6 main ski holiday resorts – the Arlberg offers an unmatched snow record, diverse resorts and varied terrain. St Anton am Arlberg is located in the south of the Arlberg with St Christoph, Stuben, Lech – Zurs and Warth serving the rest of the Arlberg ski region. Warth is the snowiest ski area in the Alps, Zurs probably the most exclusive, Stuben has possibly the best off-piste skiing in the Alps whilst St Anton is hard to match anywhere for its tough skiing and epic apres ski.
St Christoph am Arlberg – highest ski resort in the Arlberg
From St Anton take the Galzig cable car up and ride down the intermediate slopes into the 1800m high St Christoph. The resort is mostly ski-in, ski-out or slope-side and is the highest ski holiday resort in the Arlberg. Effectively the St Anton and St Christoph ski areas are the same but St Christoph offers a better beginner ski area and pretty straightforward access to the main St Anton ski area. St Christoph gets an incredible amount of snow and has a good range of high end accommodation. Lunching on the lower slopes above St Christoph is something of a rite of passage for those in the St Anton ski area.
Lech-Zürs am Arlberg – the ski destination of choice for European Royalty
The combined ski area of Lech – Zurs is famous for its ‘White Ring’ ski circuit which runs in a loop from Lech am Arlberg into Zurs am Arlberg and back to Lech via the small ski holiday resort of Zug. The skiing in Lech – Zurs is perfect for intermediates with numerous blue and red pistes crossing the region. Given the snow record in the area the pistes are often in fantastic condition. Beginners can access learning areas in both and Lech and Zurs, intermediate skiers and snowboarders have some of the best terrain in the region, whilst better skiers and snowboarders can take advantage of the huge powder skiing, off-piste and heli-skiing options in the area.
Stuben am Arlberg – possibly the best off-piste skiing in the Alps
On-piste, the skiing options in Stuben are pretty limited with just a handful of lifts and slopes. Most people staying in Stuben and looking for piste skiing would head for St Anton or Lech – Zurs. But for off-piste skiing Stuben is in a league of its own. The Albona ridge stretches several kilometres and endless routes drop down a steep face back into Stuben in the valley. Stuben really is one of the very best off-piste destinations anywhere in the world.
Warth am Arlberg – officially the snowiest ski area in the Alps
Warth is officially recognised as having the greatest annual snowfall accumulation of any ski area in the Alps. Since 2013 Warth has been lift linked with Lech – Zurs and Arlberg ski region – opening up further terrain in this already vast ski region. Statistically it is highly probable that skiers and snowboarders who venture into the Warth area will get fresh snow under ski or board. Located at the Northern-most tip of the Arlberg ski region, the trip from St Anton to Warth and back is a classic.
